Lucinda Riley

Lucinda Riley was an Irish author of historical fiction who began her career as a dancer and actress in Lisburn, Northern Ireland in 1965 before passing away at Drumbeg on June 11, 2021, at age 56.

Riley began her acting career by appearing on television programs such as The Story of the Treasure Seekers and Jumping the Queue. Additionally, she studied ballet at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. However, in 1989 Riley was diagnosed with mononucleosis which forced her to give up acting entirely.

She began writing her debut novel, Lovers and Players while recovering from mononucleosis in 1992. Her debut was an instantaneous success; since then, she has written over 20 bestsellers; such as her Seven Sisters series which follows seven adopted sisters trying to discover who they truly are.

She was an outspoken proponent of literacy and education. She founded the Lucinda Riley Foundation to distribute books and educational resources directly to children in need. Additionally, she generously contributed time and funds to numerous arts-related charities throughout her lifetime.
